Combining Two Passions

Combining two of her passions, horses and art, Lisa Marie Bishop strives to capture the essence, energy, and power of horses onto canvas. She uses mixed media, including oil and acrylic, and abstract strokes indicating movement and grace. Lisa Marie’s work, both equestrian and mainstream abstracts, graces the walls of art collectors worldwide. Her clients include top equestrian competitors such as: Lauren Spreiser, Jessica Jo Tate, Endel Ots, Mary Phelps and Olympians Juan Matute Sr. and Karen O’Connor.

Lisa Marie grew up riding Hunters & Jumpers in upstate New York. As an adult, she became a professional equestrian athlete and competed as an FEI Eventer and earned her USEA Bronze Medal with her MDCTA Intermediate Horse of the Year, Beetle Bailey. Under the tutelage of several FEI Grand Prix trainers – including Joe Fargis, Michael Barisone, Peter Gray, Ralph Hill, and Anne Gribbons – Lisa Marie has competed successfully in all three Olympic equestrian disciplines. She is a USDF Silver Medalist, and currently training her young horse, Dhecanter at Dancer Dressage for the competition ring.

Capturing the Connection

“There is something about Lisa’s work that captivates the soul of a horse person. Each vignette tells a story. As a rider and horse owner, I find that story often strikes a personal chord. It is clear that Lisa’s extensive equestrian background allows her to create paintings that truly depict all the joys and challenges of the sport.” ~ Gerri Hollander
